The Royal Berkshire Regiment 1914-1959
The Regimental Museum of the Royal Gloucestershire Berkshire and Wiltshire Archives contains many thousands of photographs graphically illustrating the history of the regiment. Tracing the history of the Royal Berkshire Regiment through both world wars and up to the date of their amalgamation with the Wiltshire Regiment to form the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment, this fascinating collection contains many rare images of those who led the regiment in battle. It features over 200 archive photographs with informative commentary, providing a sympathetic record of the regiment over this period and evocatively charting their activities both at home and abroad, at peace and in war, from the call up of the reserves in 1914 to their final activities against terrorists in Cyprus in 1959. Martin McIntyre works at the regimental museum in Salisbury, and is a former member of the regiment himself.
