IJN Takao Class Cruisers - Warship Pictorial No. 30
IJN Takao Class Cruisers - Warship Pictorial No. 30
This book covers the Imperial Japanese Navy, Second World War era heavy cruisers of the Takao class. These cruisers were the result of the evolution of all previous designs in the Japanese Navy and were the largest and most heavily armed in the world when commissioned in 1932. Covered in this book are all changes with refits and overhauls these ships went through, showing numerous details and differences from 1932 to the end of the war in 1945. This book is comprised of 72 pages with a total of 99 B&W photographs. There are 30 sets of technical line drawings, as well as 5 colour illustrations, and general statistics contained with the pages of this book.
Also provided is a very extensive "Pacific War" record of each of the four ships of this class, Takao, Atago, Maya and Chokai, covering their war history almost day-by-day. Extensive and informative captions help explain each and every one of the multitude of photographs, some previously unpublished, of this class of famous Imperial Japanese Navy, heavy cruisers. This book is a fantastic reference for this class of warship and is one of very few written in English ever published.
