Chronicles the full history of this brutal-looking and effective fighter from conception and prototype development, to the production of the Ta152, which reached operational status shortly before the ed of the war. Conceived and designed by the brilliant Kurt Tank in 1937, the Focke-Wulf Fw190 entered service with the Luftwaffe in 1941 where it displayed immediately its superiority to the Spitfire V. In the following three years over 13 main series and numerous variants were developed to keep pace with Allied developments and to fulfil a host of operational requirements. Amongst these the main service version, the Fw19OD-9, armed with two cannon and two machine guns, and with a top speed of 426mph, is generally regarded as Germany's best piston engined fighter.
