Death on a Distant Frontier: A Lost Victory, 1944
Death on a Distant Frontier tells the story of how, when the war in Europe was almost over, the Anglo-American forces failed to finish off the German forces, and the fighting was prolonged until March 1945. An account of the Allied advance in France in September 1944, with the 1st SAS Brigade behind enemy lines in the Vosges mountains raising the local resistance to prepare to sabotage the German lines for the advance of the US 3rd and 7th Armies. Unfortunately American political considerations took priority, the advance was delayed and the opportunity lost.
