Anzio

The author was a BBC war correspondent who was on the Anzio beachead the whole time and tells the full story of the triumphant landing that quickly turned to disaster. Account of the landing south of Rome in January, 1944, which was intended to relieve the bogged-down advance of the Allied forces in Italy and which resulted in a four month battle.
